One way to secure a bead or gemstone onto a wire is by making a Wire Wrapped Loop. By following the steps below you will be able to start creating your own jewelry statements using beads and gemstones.

Wire Wrapped Loop

Start with a headpin that is long enough to hold your bead, giving you at least 1 3/4″ of wire leftover.

Place your Needle Nose pliers right at the top of the bead and bend your wire to a 90 degree angle.

Rotate your Needle Nose pliers 45 degrees so that one needle is below the bent wire and one is above the bent wire.

Wrap your wire up and around the top needle of your pliers and back down, creating a circle around your pliers, so that it crosses over the base wire.

You may need to rotate your Needle Nose pliers to allow you to fully create your circle.

Now take your wire and wrap it at least two times around the base wire.

Use your Side Cutter Pliers to trim the excess wire.

I find that making a Wire Wrapped Loop, although taking more steps and practice, is easier than making a simple loop, and that the final look is more finished and secure.
