EP#72 – When Boundaries Aren’t Enough: Walking Away Without Regret

Introduction to Crystal Self Healer Podcast

Welcome to the Crystal Self Healer podcast. I’m Corissa Weaver. Get ready to unlock your intuition and restore your true power as we cover how you can transform your life using crystals and self-awareness.

Are you ready to get started? Alright, let’s go.

Challenging Societal Expectations

Have you ever noticed that there’s a strong expectation in Western culture to turn the other cheek? To defer to elders or to hold your nose and do it anyway when it comes to people you’d rather not interact with?

There’s this undercurrent that emphasizes the comfort of tradition or the feelings of the person who is responsible for undesirable behavior that favors hierarchy or to not disturb the status quo.

When your boundaries aren’t enough to offset these patterns and your emotional wellbeing is at stake, it may be time for you to walk away without regret.

If you’ve been feeling the weight of maintaining toxic ties, but crave peace of mind, this episode is for you. You will learn how to enact spiritual law to gain clarity around your values and your threshold of tolerance.

Many tenets of the past have morphed to mean different things through our modern lens.

Sayings and parables that held importance have taken on an entirely different tone. They’ve been twisted and distorted through a desire for power and control.

Turning the other cheek once was a guiding principle for non-violence or preventing retaliation, but now gets used to turn a blind eye to bad behavior and encourage passive compliance.

These twisted tenets become the stick that’s used to keep you in compliance.

That cry for decorum when you’re accused of being disrespectful or standing in the way of someone else’s objective.

That nudge to keep quiet so you don’t place shame or embarrassment at the feet of the person whose transgressions have violated your boundaries.

While you’ve likely been conditioned to see the good side in people or value keeping the peace, there will be a moment when it becomes too much to bear.

The pattern that’s playing out is keeping your focus on the experience of the other person and how you can keep them comfortable or avoid being accountable for distasteful actions.

And this violation of spiritual law prohibits your ability to find the peace of mind and alignment you’re striving for.

Understanding the Seven of Wands

The card we’re going to look at today is the seven of Wands in the what to call in placement. You will notice this card has the central person standing atop an elevated grassy knoll holding their wand amid six wands being raised from below.

One of the things I really love about this card is that depending on the energy of your read, the card can be either a celebration or a card of attack.

And in the context of this episode, it is the latter. That’s what drives the meaning of the wands and the participants.

Now as we go back and look at the card, you clearly see the central person is using their wand to beat back the six wands rising from below.

The central person is being challenged physically, mentally, and emotionally to stand their ground. The people below are attempting to knock the central person off their pitch.

And when it comes to going against societally accepted conventions, this is exactly what you’re doing. You’re attempting to rise out of undesirable circumstances, yet the people around you are bound and determined to knock you back down to be with them.

So the seven of Wands is challenging you to stand your ground, to stand in your desire to create change for yourself, and to wield your wand, to defend and protect your peace of mind and your growth.

I find it fascinating that people have so many different faces they show to the people around them, depending on the lens they want to be seen through.

Not everybody experiences the same side of another person. How I interact with someone, or the faces that someone shows to me, is not going to be the exact same experience someone else has. It’s for this reason other people can struggle to acknowledge your negative experience with someone they may have a positive experience with.

When those voices, those perspectives, are used to encourage you to change your perception or your experience, that’s where your boundaries are crucial.

Know that not everyone who is pulling you backward on your path is doing it because they want to control you. They’re just being human and humans naturally don’t like change because it can feel scary, especially when you aren’t the person to initiate the change.

No one is going to understand your vision as good as you, especially if you are listening to people who don’t understand, don’t care, or don’t want you to grow.

It’s your job to believe in yourself, to stand for what you’re going toward, and this is why you don’t need to justify why you choose to go no contact.

Not all relationships are meant to last forever. No material things are eternal.

Going back to the tenets that prioritize maintaining relationships or imagined permanence of the structures, this space of mental and emotional conflict is where you’ll want to lean into the spiritual laws.

The first one being the law of responsibility: taking ownership of your own actions and your own choices.

Explore where your boundaries have been unclear, unspoken, or ignored.

You are allowed to have a boundary. You are allowed to have a line to say, I’m not tolerating this anymore, and then to walk away without shame, without guilt, or having to explain to anyone.

If you were to decide, or be influenced, to go back to something that is hurting you and your sovereignty, this calls you to lean into the spiritual law of accountability.

People can threaten, entice, bribe, or coerce all they want. Each and every one of us has a primal urge for self preservation, and we’re unlikely to change unless we’re forced into a position that leaves no alternative. If you shift accountability for your wellbeing to them, there’s no guarantee you or your needs will be prioritized.

The Law of Accountability asks you to acknowledge the impact of your actions, accepting the consequences, and repairing the harm by aligning with your truth and integrity. When you take a you centered approach to your wellbeing, you’ll have no alternative but to choose going no contact.

When you’re standing on your pitch, experiencing the mental and emotional conflict of the wands around you, this is where you get to decide whether you stay and endure the undesirable behavior, or if you go no contact and choose your peace of mind instead.

The Power of Ruby Crystal

The crystal I’m going to invite you to work with is Ruby, and here’s why.

As a crystal associated with the root chakra, it stimulates your life force, helping you stay anchored in your truth while also moving from a place of connected inner knowing. Ruby energizes your commitment to your personal and spiritual integrity so you can prioritize your own needs over systemic pressures.

Many might think that being accountable for the results of your actions is about internalizing shame and guilt. But there’s this shift that Ruby helps facilitate through this radical self-honesty. By focusing on the standards you want to hold yourself to, instead of spiraling in explanation and justification of and for others, you will see that real peace begins when you are being accountable to yourself.

Boundaries become easier to set and maintain when you’re strongly rooted in your values and level of tolerance. Ruby stimulates your inner confidence and releases the emotional fatigue you experience from carrying the needs and expectations of others. You’ll feel a sense of resolve in saying no as an act of personal service to protect your time, your energy, and your peace of mind.

Ruby is supportive in releasing the emotions associated with past emotional trauma or physical abuse, allowing your nervous system to soften and relax. You’ll be more apt to stay anchored in the present moment with clarity and endure the mental and emotional conflict.
