Yesterday was a big day for Three Charmed Gems. We packed up our products and pitched a tent for our very first farmers market display.

I’ll be honest, my stomach was in knots with all my nerves.

I grew up helping my parents and their business at local festivals and workshops, but that’s easy when it’s someone else’s baby.  But Three Charmed Gems is my baby.  My creative identity.  On display for people to view.

Having never done my own jewelry display at a Farmers Market I pretty much had to start from scratch.

Unilaterally it was decided this would be a family endeavor, so DH and The Things were all up, not bright-eyed, not bushy-tailed and ready to go for the 8:00 AM set-up time.  Yes, you heard me, 8:00 AM.  Me, I was the one who kept them all waiting.

Tent set up was quick, thanks to DH having practiced in our back yard a few times.  Tables were up, but we forgot the table cloths so DH had to go home to get them.  Luckily we only live a couple blocks away from the Farmers Market so it was no big deal!  The Things even helped with the set up, until they got bored and went off to run around.

The Big Reveal

So this is what we ended up with.  An ok presentation.  A variety of bracelets, necklaces and earrings.  There were other items that I brought but didn’t put out because I didn’t want the tables to be over crowded and confusing to the eye.

What would I change for my next Farmers Market Display?

Vertical Presentation.  All the items were laid out on the table.  Yes, there was a bust to highlight a necklace and there was a fabric lined frame to hang earrings, but nothing was at eye level for people to look at.

Visual Draw.  As mentioned above, the presentation was ok.  A lot of people just walked by.  Perhaps that’s because it is a Farmers Market and people are more interested in food items.

I’m not disappointed, it was the first Farmers Market display.  Things can only get better from here!
